Technology at PCS
Thanks to the generosity of our PCS families and community, we have had great success in building our technology fund, allowing us to build the needed infrastructure to take our students deeper into technology in the classroom.
Over the last five years, following our technology plan, we have been able to provide 1:1 Chromebooks for Kindergarten through 8th grade. The addition of chromebooks have been the key to our success in preparing PCS students for the years ahead.
Since the introduction of Google Classrooms in 2016, our school has been successful at creating a paperless environment, with formative and summative assessment presented on a digital platform.
Utilizing Google Suite for Education, IXL, Teacherease, and more, our school has been adapting to the everchanging technology demands to prepare our students for their future ahead.
Renaissance Accelerated Reader
The Renaissance Accelerated Reader program has been a powerful tool that has helped us develop our student's reading skills, improve reading comprehension, and provide our students with the ability to raise their reading test scores. This tool is used with Grades 2nd-8th.
2nd & 3rd Grade - Student's in these grades take a 10 question quiz. It is used an an incentive to read more books, and a tool to observe a student's reading ability
4th - 8th Grade - Students at this level take a 10-15 question quiz on books. Each book has a reading level & point value. The total points that the student has accumulated by the end of the quarter are then given a grade on the AR grading scale. This grade is averaged into their reading grade at the end of the quarter.
